trip ITINERARY

DAY 1:12th october 2026

Thimphu: Your journey begins in the beautiful Paro Valley where you will be met at Paro International Airport by your tour leader, guide and driver. Explore the charming town centre on foot and stroll across the picturesque wooden Nyamai Zam Bridge. Walk up to the magnificent Rinpung Dzong above and visit the National Museum. Continue to Thimphu and explore this quirky little capital of Bhutan.

DAY 2:13th october 2026

Thimphu: Visit the Great Buddha Dordenma Statue and the Takin reserve. Continue to the School of 13 Traditional Arts and Crafts. Enjoy a lunch with local businesswomen who will share their stories of running successful businesses in Bhutan and how they balanced their roles as a mother. After lunch visit the National Textile Museum. In the late afternoon visit the dzong to see the changing of the guard.

DAY 3:14th october 2026

Punakha: Drive eastwards over the Dochula Pass (3,140m) to see the scenic view of the Eastern Himalayan mountains. Descend into the balmy lush landscapes of the Punakha valley. Visit Chimi Lhakhang the Fertility Temple and and the beautiful Punakha Dzong.

DAY 4:15th october 2026

Punakha:  Trek through the fertile Punakha Valley today. Drive to the village of Samdingkha and start your hike to the suspension bridge. This lovely 7km walk follows the Pho Chhu river before a gentle climb to a view point. There are good chances of seeing the white billed heron along the way. The walk descends to the suspension bridge. Enjoy lunch in a riverside restaurant and relax at the hotel overlooking the dzong. Visit Punakha Dzong

DAY 5:16th october 2026

Phobjikha:  Drive to Phobjikha stopping at the Lawala Pass for great views of the valley below. The road descends to Phobjikha where we visit the picturesque Gangtay village and join the nature trail hike. This lovely hike takes you through forests of blue pines and open meadows. Your vehicle will meet you at the end of the trail to transfer to your hotel.

Overnight: Phobjikha
Altitude: 3,000 m

DAY 6:17th october 2026

Bumthang: Visit the impressive Gangtay Monastery dating from the early 17th century, one of the two main centres of the Nyingmapa school of Buddhism in Bhutan. Leaving Phobjikha, we rejoin the main highway descending to much lower altitude. Bumthang, one of the most beautiful and sacred valleys in Bhutan. Visit Wangdichoeling Palace Museum and continue to our accommodation at the lovely Swiss Guest House.

DAY 7:18th october 2026

Bumthang: We head towards one of the most beautiful and sacred valleys in Bhutan. Visit Jakar Dzong and then walk from Jambay Lhaghang to Kurje Lhakang and onto Tamjing Lhakhang. After lunch in a local cafe, visit the Wangdichoeling Palace Museum.

Walking time: 2.5 -3 hours
Overnight: Bumthang
Altitude: 2,800 m

Day 8:19th october 2026

Bumthang: Attend Jakar Festival, one of the annual highlights of the Bumthang valley. A riot of colour and music for three days that enlivens the crowd in the otherwise quiet forested valleys of Bumthang, this is a unique opportunity to join locals at this stunning event. Later, do the Pema Sambhava temple hike starting at Tshomo farmhouse.  Stop at the Dorjibi Weaving Centre which trains young people in traditional weaving skills. Continue on a gradual incline to the Pema Sambhava temple offering wonderful views of the valley below

Altitude: 2,800 m

Day 9: 20th october 2026

Paro: Take the morning flight back to Paro and visit Paro Dzong and the National Museum. Explore the 7th century Kyichu Lhakhang temple, one of the oldest and most sacred shrines in Bhutan. Enjoy the facilities at our upgraded hotel in Paro which offers a heated indoor swimming pool, sauna and steam room. There is also a wonderful hot stone bath (extra charge).

Overnight: Paro
Altitude: 2,500 m

Day 10: 21st october 2026

Paro: Walk to the iconic Tiger's Nest Monastery. An unforgettable hike to the Taktshang Gomba (Tiger’s Nest Monastery). The walk through blue pines, passing water-powered prayer wheels, leads you to the holy site. This ancient monastery clings miraculously to a sheer cliff above the valley floor. The views are magnificent over the Paro Valley. Return to the hotel in the afternoon and join your guide for a game of archery in the garden.

Altitude: 2,500 m

DAY 11: 22nd october 2026

Depart Paro: Farewell the group as you head to the airport for your flight home.
