After completing the Annapurna Circuit trek, I can only say what a wonderful experience it was. Dealing with this excellent company was easy, the organisation was brilliant! What makes them stand out is the profits go back to First Steps Himalaya, who do such a wonderful job.

Beyond The Clouds is not just another travel company. They are not caught in the trappings of the big commercial travel companies who are often inflexible and not always user friendly. This one has soul and works with you on what you like to experience. Fionna, Durga and the team run an excellent charity and travel company.

After crossing a suspension bridge at Chamje, we climb to the village of Tal (1,675 m). Here we enter Manang District and the trail continues through potato fields and pine forests. The wide valley becomes a narrow gorge and the trail descends to a forest passing through Karte before arriving in Dharapani.

Spend the night here, the first real high altitude stop on the trek.

Walking time: 4-5 hours
Overnight: Yak Kharka | Altitude: 4,900 m

DAY 12

Yak Kaharka to Thorong Phedi: This shorter hike takes you to the last stop before the pass and you are likely to feel the effects of altitude here. Passing the village of Letdar (4,200 m) the trail continues to a much more barren landscape, finally reaching Thoring Phedi. Walk slowly and rest when you get there, and again go a little higher and back down.
Walking time: 4-5 hours
Overnight: Thorong Phedi | Altitude: 4,450 m

DAY 13

Thorong Phedi to Muktinath: Leaving Thorong Phedi very early in the morning, the trail steeply climbs on a zigzag path to high camp for a breakfast stop. The final ascent to the Thorong La pass (5,416 m) is tough and your body will really know it is at high altitude. The views from the pass festooned with prayer flags, make the long walk worthwhile. The landscape changes dramatically as you descend on the Mustang side of the pass. The descent is knee jerking almost all the way to the holy temple at Muktinath. When you arrive in Muktinath be sure to rest well. Do visit the 108 Water Spouts as this is an important shrine for both Buddhists and Hindus and attracts pilgrims from all over Nepal and India.
Walking time: 8-9 hours
Overnight: Muktinath | Altitude:  3,800 m

DAY 14

Muktinath to Kagbeni via Lupra: From Muktinath, the walking trail crosses rocky, desert like scenery to the Lupra Pass where there are excellent mountain views. From Lupra, the trail descends to meet the road at Ekle Bhati. Follow the Kali Gandhaki River to the stunning village of Kagbeni, which is home to an ancient monastery and a small museum at the border with Mustang. Opposite the museum there is an excellent café serving homemade cake and ‘real’ coffee.
